在有关生物学的研究工作中,“♂”代表雄体,“♀”代表雌体,恐怕是大家最所熟习而最常用的符号了。但说来很有趣,“♂”符号是象征过去武士的长矛[也有人说♂是神话中丘比德(Cupid)爱神手中的弓矢],当初最典型的写法是“♂”,上面那个矛头是斜的。从形象上看来,大概表示矛被扛在肩上。然而,符号使用久了,特别是不晓得它的来源,矛头也被写正了,成为“♂”的样子了,也许这样写,看来整齐一些吧!不过由于失去了原意,我们认为还应把矛头斜置更富有代表
