This article is written by Yamada Motoda, head of the Motivation Section of Japan’s Mitsubishi Corporation. The contents of the book provide a comprehensive description of some modern technologies for designing high-power steam turbines, including the improvement of efficiency, performance improvement, safe and reliable measures, the research of unsurpassed low pressure, the vibration intensity of shafting and the design of major components such as cylinders, bearings and valves specialty. This article also gives an overview of some of the experiences that MITSUBISHI has accumulated in the design of modern high-power steam turbines and some of the test methods used.
