记者:江泽民同志在十五大报告中指出:“发展教育和科学,是文化建设的基础工程。”而且特别强调:“要把教育摆在优先发展的战略地位。”怎样理解这些论述的重要意义?答:江泽民同志在十五大报告中关于教育问题的重要论述,运用生产力、生产关系与人的发展相统一这一马克思主义原理,从经济发展与人自身的发展和文化的发展相互联系这一角度,深刻总结了十一届三中全会以来,我们党领导改革开放和社会主义现代化建设的实践经验。既着眼于当前我国经济社会的发展和全面进步,又深谋远虑国家长远发展的战略选择;既提出了教育战线跨世纪的宏大任务,又指明了实现这一任务的指导方针。记者:为什么要把教育摆在优先发展的战略地位?答:因为教育是适应未来需要的事业,是关系一个国家前途的重要事业。一个国家教育的规模和水平,既体现着这个国家的文明程度,又在很大程度上决定着该国的未来。
