教授失踪1938年10月,武汉沦陷,侵华日军继续南下,古城长沙再也不是“大后方”了,国民党教育当局下令长沙全市各大专院校内迁。长沙湘雅医学院也不例外。在湘雅医学院这些流亡的师生当中,有好几位外国博士,其中有一名日本外科教授叫渡边四郎,鬓发略显花白,胡须疏朗。他除了教学外,就是关在屋子里写论著,平时难得出来,只是早晚在外面散散步。他信奉中国佛教,每天都在观音菩萨的座像前敬三炷清香。渡边给师生们的印象是一位慈祥、和善、不问政治、治学严谨的学者。
