特伦斯·霍克斯在《莎士比亚和新的批评方法》一文中针对以布拉德莱为代表的传统莎学研究提出了新的批评研究的概念,梳理、评述了结构主义、后结构主义或解构主义、符号学、女性主义、马克思主义与话语研究、接受美学理论等20世纪现代批评理论的主要观点,以及在这些批评理论关照下莎学研究的新态势,并分析这些新批评方法的利弊。本文评析了《莎士比亚和新的批评方法》一文的主要观点,认为霍克斯的研究虽有不足,但对国内从事莎学研究的学者仍具有重要的启迪作用。
