Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of serum p53 in patients with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL). Methods Thirty patients with NHL were recruited. Serum p53 levels were detected by ELISA and compared with 20 healthy controls. Results The average level of serum p53 in NHL patients was significantly higher than that in healthy controls (P <0.01), and the patients with combined leukemia or bone marrow infiltration were significantly higher than those without infiltration. The average concentration of p53 in patients with clinically effective treatment was significantly decreased. The expression of p53 correlated with age, There was no correlation between sex and gender, but positively correlated with clinical staging, tumor invasion and serum LDH concentration. Conclusions The serum level of p53 in patients with NHL is increased, which is valuable in judging the clinical stage and degree of tumor invasion. It is expected to be a new indicator to judge the prognosis of NHL.
