1 On the day in February 1945, a new atomic bomb test rig was transported to the Alamogordo test site, a semi-desert platform near Los Alamos Canyon in New Mexico. Next to an old farmhouse, a 30-meter-high steel frame was erected and the atomic bomb test rig was suspended at the top of the metal frame. This plot is called “zero zone”. There was a reinforced concrete shield 10 kilometers from the “zero zone” where a small group of scientists, soldiers and other staff were waiting nervously to meet and observe the “new bomb” - the launch of the atomic bomb.
