Have you ever known Dorothy in the magical Land of Oz?
I think it’s one of the best-known classic children’s story book.
I’ve read it many years ago, but I almost forgot about it until I happened to see my sister reading it. So, I’m going to read it again.
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is an American children’s novel written by author L. Frank Baum. The Wizard of Oz, which is the title of the popular 1902 Broadway musical adaptation as well as the iconic 1939 musical film adaptation.
The story chronicles the adventures of a young farm girl named Dorothy in the magical Land of Oz, after she and her pet dog Toto are swept away from their Kansas home by a cyclone. On her way home, weird things happened to Dorothy. She encountered the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion who were in need of help. Then, they all took the yellow brick road to the Emerald City on purpose. Even though, on their way to the Emerald City, they met numbers of difficulties, luckily, they successfully dealt with them and finally arrived at the kingdom they longing for. However, accidents will happen. The moment they found the Wizard of Oz is just a liar, their dreams failed. Later, fortunately, with the help of the witch Glinda, all of them realized their dreams and Dorothy came back home as she wished.
Such an interesting story, and it is too attractive to put it down. It’s easy to finish for its short length. I really enjoyed it. It brought me into the wonderland of the fairy tale and adventured with many friends. What’s more, I got a further intimate knowledge.
I fully appreciates her courage. In case of being ignoring of everything in a new kingdom, she bravely walked forward. No matter how many obstacles lie ahead, she always beard it in mind that ‘East, west—home is the best!’ , Kansas has no trees, no green hills, no gardens, though. That is true. Whatever what is the view outside, how beautiful is it, breast is important. Home is always the habitat comforts lost people drifting in the wind. And the courage to overcome all difficulties is greatly essential.
I couldn’t help reminding of some experiences in my freshman year. And I’ve always wondered if I had learned it earlier, maybe my life would have been more colorful.
Before I went to college, I was proud of myself all the time as a top student in English. Although I have always been clear that oral English, under Chinese hard education, has certain defects, I never thought my spoken English would be poor to a certain extent until my professional teacher pointed out many times that I was not a good speaker. Especially, when you committed continuous efforts to something while finally you got a C or D, it really pushed me over the edge. Frustration and sadness kept flooding into my mind.
