贺麟(1902—1992)以首篇有关翻译理论研究的论文——《严复的翻译》(1925年)为起点,在此后的20余年间,发表了一系列关于翻译研究的论文,这些论文组成了贺麟翻译思想中最为重要的部分。作为20世纪颇负盛名的哲学家和翻译家,贺麟不仅在翻译理论方面有深入的探讨,在翻译实践方面也有很深的造诣。他对可译性、译名翻译的研究包融中国传统译论,而他关于重译、深度翻译的研究又关照中国现代译论;他对西方哲学,尤其是对黑格尔哲学的翻译,在中国译学界至今无人望其项背。本文较为系统、全面地梳理了其翻译理论和实践,重新发现并认识了其翻译思想对中国传统译论研究、中国现代译论研究及中国译论译史方面的价值,并指出在未来中国译论译史撰写的过程中,有必要对贺麟的翻译思想书上浓眉重彩的一笔。
