1988年1月24日凌晨1点半钟左右,从昆明开往上海的80次特别快车,在云南省宣威县境内的邓家村车站附近颠覆。这起造成88人死亡的严重事故,震动了全国,也为举世所关注。围绕“一·二四”事故,大众传播媒介和党政信息网络,通过各自的渠道,不同的载体,传播了大量信息。《人民日报》从事故发生的第二天(1月25日)起,到发表国务院关于80次特快旅客列车颠覆事故的处理决定止,在7天内发表有关“一·二四”事故的新闻10条(不包括图片,下同)共计6700字左右;《贵州日报》从1日25日登载新华杜《滇黔线发生客车严重颠覆事故》的电讯起,到3月7日登载国务院关于“一·二四”事故的处理决定止,在43天内发表有关“一·二四”事故的新闻33条。其中,采用新华杜的电讯8条,该报记者和通讯员的稿件25条,共计3万多字。
At about 1:30 a.m. on January 24, 1988, about 80 special express buses bound for Shanghai from Kunming were subverted near Dengjiacun Station in Xuanwei County, Yunnan Province.
