This article presents three new instruments developed in 1984: a new dilution cooler that easily loads samples into a mixing chamber that lowers the quantum Hall effect and de Haas-Van Alphen experiments to 20mK. The second is a 16.5T spiral tube made of niobium and niobium titanium filaments at a temperature of 2.2K. It is perfect for top-loading sample dilution refrigerators. Eddy current in the mixing chamber is minimized by the use of electrically insulated tailpipes. The best way to cool a sample is to immerse the sample directly into the diluted phase mixture. Electrical leads, coaxial lines, and control rods that drive sample movement have been successfully assembled in top-mounted sample rods.
