In this paper, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was used to investigate the non-isothermal dehydration process of gypsum under different conditions. It shows that the dehydration process is complex and the dehydration behavior strongly depends on the experimental conditions. (1) The shape of the dehydration curve is basically similar to that given in the literature, and the dehydration peaks obviously overlap with each other. However, under certain experimental conditions, the two dehydration peaks are completely separated. (2) The initial and final dehydration temperatures increase with increasing heating rate. (3) The dehydration activation energy (first step) decreases with increasing particle size, sample amount and heating rate.
