Both “like” and “elephant” are common words and their use is currently confusing. In the simplified Chinese character program of the 1950s, it was stipulated that the “image” was used as the “image”; in the footnote of “Simplified Chinese Character List” published in 1964, it was noted that “the image is still used when the meaning of the image and the image may be confused”. Since then, the “images” have been used in the technical terms such as the sky image, the object image, the astigmatism, and the image point. There are generally no confusion and disagreement in the use of the word. In October 1986, when the National Language and Writing Committee re-published the “Simplified Chinese Characters List,” it reverted to the “image” and pointed out that “like traditional Chinese characters that are no longer imaged,” and removed the “image (image)” note.
