At present, nearly continuous casting process is being developed vigorously, which can not but have an impact on the structure of the steel industry. The new small mills that produce flat bars have become competitors to the traditional large-scale steel companies. This article intends to make some discussions from a technical and economic point of view. The production costs of the traditional high-efficiency caster at the casting and rolling stages are similar to those of the CSP and CPR processes, which are more expensive to produce with the two-roll strip continuous casting method. The new process has the obvious advantages of less investment, shorter processes, lower program management and shipping costs, but with significant limitations in terms of variety and specifications. As a result, small steel mills have economic advantages in producing flat products
