据1993年9月召开的全国地方党刊工作会议提供的数据,目前加入全国地方党刊研究会、公开出版发行的地方党刊近40家,发行总数1300余万份,加上中央党刊和未入会的公开和内部地方党刊,发行量接近1500万份。党刊已是中国新闻界一支举足轻重的力量。 但在新闻媒体激烈竞争,总体质量提高的情况下,党刊也面临挑战,在总体质量上应再改革提高,有些问题值得注意。 订数短期上升后大幅下滑。与80年代中期比,多数省市的党刊订数下降,有的减少一半多,且呈继续下滑趋势。
