Tennessee Williams, one of the great American writers of the twentieth century, is known for his plays, but his variety of forms includes poetry, short stories and memoirs. He is good at revealing the indifference, alienation and loneliness of society in a personal sense. His two poems, In the Winter of Cities (1956) and Androgyne (Mon Amour) , 1977) also reveals the same theme. The realism of his poetry is full of color and reflects the southern people’s escape thoughts in the industrialized era. This article intends to start with the discussion of the poems that Williams wrote and published, and analyzes the creative background of his poems, the southern culture and the psychological trauma caused by his own personality, and explores the theme of Escaping Williams from another perspective.
