The first 1000kW power class GTO traction converter in China, which was completed by China Academy of Railway Sciences Institute of Vehicle, was approved by the Ministry of Railways on May 18, 1999. Ministry of Railways Science and Education Division, the car company, Tsinghua University, North Jiaotong University, Southwest Jiaotong University, Shanghai Railway University, Dalian Railway Institute, Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Works, Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Research Institute, Datong Locomotive Works, Yongji Electric Works and the Ministry of Railways Scientific Research Institute and other units of the leaders, experts, professors and engineers and technicians attended the meeting. 1000kW GTO traction converter is issued by the State Planning Commission on August 5 National Key Scientific and Technological Project "AC - DC - AC drive electric locomotive
