科学家们利用RNA干扰技术可成功地削弱癌细胞产生一种被称作端粒酶的关键蛋白的能力。在绝大多数癌症类型的癌细胞中存在的这种酶可赋予细胞疯狂分裂、永不死亡的致命能力。该研究目前为致力于端粒酶癌症研究的科学家们研制出前所未有的可有效治疗85%的癌症类型的抗癌药物提供了一次良好的机会。
Scientists have used RNAi technology to successfully reduce the cancer cells’ ability to produce a key protein called telomerase. This enzyme, which is present in the vast majority of cancer-type cancer cells, gives the cell a fantastic split that never dies. The study now offers a good opportunity for scientists working on telomerase cancer research to develop an unprecedented anti-cancer drug that is effective in treating 85% of cancer types.
