Inverted rib waveguide (IRW) lasers have shown excellent operating characteristics and do not involve regrowth and stringent etching processes. Device structure shown in Figure 1. The theoretical analysis of the waveguide mechanism has not been compared with experiments in the past, this article will do this work, and will show that it is very close to the theory given. An improved single effective oscillator model is used to calculate the dielectric constant of the layer in question. The solution to the wave equation of the four-layer structure gives the effective dielectric constant value as a function of the thickness of the active and waveguide layers.
