《吴音奇字》乃明朝海虞(今江苏常熟)人孙楼(1515—1583)所作,后经延陵(今江苏常州)人陆镒于崇祯甲申年(1644)铨次补遗,且内容标注“补遗”字样列于孙氏所撰之后。全书一卷,分天文、地理、时令、人物、身体、人事、饮食、衣服、宫室、器用、珍宝、鸟兽、花木、通用十四门类,每门下先列单字,依次是二字,三字,至多四字。据余晓晴(2010)统计,书中有单字词1143个、二字词568个、
