时至清代,以白居易为代表的乐府讽谕诗受到重视,获得了持续走高的道德评价,由此反映出清代诗学思想向正统的回归及其现实干预意识的强化。而在对元白张王之优劣异同的品评上,多数评家持白优元劣、张优王劣的意见。相比之下,白优于元,不只是艺术水准上的领先,更在于道德品格上的优胜;王劣于张,固然与其诗不及张诗的深秀古质、清丽深婉、浅隽多趣有关,但也缘于清代评家对所谓“浅俗”的偏见。此外,对元白诗派之特点尤其是同中之异,清人也有了较前人深入的认知和把握。至于张、王二人在创作中与元白诗风的离合变异,则尚留下可进一步探索的空间。
