Higher Education Press recently published “Modern Chinese” textbooks compiled by Shanghai University and Hubei University and edited by Qian Nai-Rong. The content of this textbook is novel and rich in materials. It absorbs some modern research achievements in linguistics and related disciplines and exudes the flavor of the times among the lines. This is the result of the concerted efforts and hard work of all the writers.
