2011年,美国华裔女作家邝丽莎(Lisa See)的小说《乔伊的梦想》(Dreams of Joy)一经问世便迅速畅销,好评如潮。本文通过赏析该小说,揭示了中外读者接受它的根本原因:一方面,小说展示了大跃进和三年自然灾害时期真实的中国,唤起了中外读者追溯历史,探索中国文化的兴趣;另一方面,它所表达的寻梦中国、圆梦美国的主旨符合了外国读者的审美期待和价值观。
In 2011, the American novelist Lisa See’s novel “Dreams of Joy” sold quickly and enjoyed good reviews. Through the appreciation of the novel, this essay reveals the fundamental reasons for Chinese and foreign readers to accept it: on the one hand, the novel shows the true China during the Great Leap Forward and the three-year natural disaster era, arousing the readers’ tracing history in China and foreign countries to explore the interest of Chinese culture; on the other hand It expresses the dream of China, the dream of the United States the main purpose of meeting the aesthetic expectations of foreign readers and values.
