2003年4月20日,是中国直面SARS疫情的转折点,“抗非传媒大战”由此开始。 公开透明不等于放任自流 面对突发灾难性事件,媒体应该客观、如实地把事实真相报道给群众。但要想“悄除受众因不了解周围环境的变动所引发的心理恐慌,消除社会不稳定因素”,仅靠及时公布准确信息是不够的。
