The history of Afro-American people is a history of being enslaved, persecuted and colonized. Similarly, Afro-American literature has also been suppressed and neglected for a long period of time. Black female literature in particular is on the verge of being marginalized like a meaningless black hole . It was not until the 1960s that with the rise of such ideological and cultural movements as black culture, nationalism and feminism, black literature flourished and became an important part of American literature. The development of black literature has promoted the transformation of black female images and transformed the patterned and typed black female images into full-fledged and individualized images.
