Whether IDC or from the Ministry of Industry data, China’s first quarter of this year, smart phone shipments have shown a significant decline. According to IDC data, in the first quarter of this year, the proportion of China’s smartphones in the world dropped from 29% in the same period of last year to 25%. From 30% down to a quarter. China’s smart phone penetration rate has exceeded 90% saturation even more than the United States and European markets. In the meantime, IDC expects the incremental markets for global smartphones to come from developing countries such as India in the next few years. In other words, with the steady or even shrinking shipments of smartphones in China and the rapid rise of emerging markets such as India and Latin America, the global share of China’s smart phone market will continue to decline in the coming years.
