本文试图说明《我们共同的朋友》对城市戏剧文化的借鉴和转化过程,以澄清威廉斯的两点言之不详之处。从借鉴的层面来看,小说家既参照诺尔斯的两部戏剧,建构和发展了叙事主线,也模仿童话剧中“慈善代理人”一角,塑造了小说中的核心人物。从转化的层面来看,狄更斯在对上述戏剧的改写过程中,克服了人物平面化和情节散漫化的倾向,实现了小说艺术性的升华;同时,他也将批判工业社会的锋芒寓于情节结构和人物形象中,回应了工业文明中“人情的断裂”和“人的异化”两大命题。
This article attempts to explain how the “Our Common Friend” draws and transforms the urban drama culture in order to clarify Williams’ point of reference. From the perspective of reference, the novelists not only refer to Knowles’s two plays, construct and develop the narrative main line, but also imitate the “charity agent” in the fairy tale play, forming the core figure in the novel. From the aspect of transformation, Dickens overcame the tendency of human figures to flatten and plots in the process of rewriting the above-mentioned drama, realizing the artistic sublimation of the novel. At the same time, Dickens also criticized the sharpness of industrial society in plot structure and Character images, in response to the industrial civilization “break the human condition ” and “alienation ” two major propositions.
