The chromophore (dansyl group) was attached to a small piece of DNA (oligonucleotide) (P ~ T) _9. In the presence of such molecular linkages, synthetic RNA is selectively truncated by nitrogen laser radiation in its specific base sequence. This effect is caused by the two-photon laser capable of causing dye-to-dye transfer of the dye to the RNA.
