According to the U.S. Naval Intelligence Network reported on July 9, the Russian Navy successfully launched the test launch of the new “Brava” (SS-NX-30) submaride-fired missile on June 28. The successful test launch was the first test after three failed tests since the fall of last year. Some commentators have questioned the future of this type of missile. However, the success of this test-fire made the missile's designer, the Moscow Institute of Thermal Engineering, more confident. The “Bulava” test missile was fired from a modified “Typhoon” class strategic nuclear submarine located in the White Sea to a target range of several thousand miles from the Russian Federation's Kamchatka Peninsula. This is the second test Russia conducted on its strategic missiles in a month. On June 29, Russia tested the new multi-bullet version of land-based “poplar” -M.
