The fifth member congress of Guangdong Institute of Metals was held in Guangzhou on December 17, 2002. There were 78 representatives present at the conference, and vice-chairman Zhang Ruosheng presided over the opening ceremony of the congress and made an opening speech on behalf of Zhang Xiting, chairman of the fourth council.
