农村饮水安全是一件关乎改善千万农民民生、加快社会主义新农村建设和推进全面小康进程的大事。省各民主党派、工商联和省政协委员对此十分关注,年年都有提案建言献策。怀着对农民群众的一片真情,省政协主席张连珍带领提案者和省水利厅、住建厅、环保厅、卫生厅等提案承办单位负责同志,连续四年赴苏北、苏中地区进行现场跟踪督办。2009年7月,在淮安洪泽县朱坝镇马棚村,张连珍亲切询问77岁的村民李秀兰:“你家现在用什么水?用得好吗?24小时都有供应吗?”身体硬朗的老人笑得合不拢嘴,连连说“自来水,用得好!”。
