Virocidin是由鍵絲菌№.290所产生的抗病毒和抗細菌的抗菌素。鏈絲菌№.290的气生菌絲体長而直,分枝短而少,並由于培养基种类不同而形成或多或少的輪生体,在淀粉-铵鹽琼脂上形成得特別多。这菌株似与S.reticuli形成的輪生体很近似,它在有机培养基上产生褐色可溶性色素,能水解淀粉,凝固和腖化牛奶,液化明膠和还原硝酸鹽等的特性都与S.reticuli相似。但是,№.290所产生的黄色培养物和黄色可溶性色素却与S.reticuli相異。另一方面它的各种特性也与S.flavus相似。因这些特性在文献中尚未有記载,故将链絲菌№290命名为Streptomyces flavoreticuli。
Virocidin is an antiviral and antibacterial antibiotic produced by Mycoccus sp. №.290. The aerial mycelia of Streptomyces sp. No. 290 were long and straight with short and short branches, and more or less whorls were formed due to the different types of culture medium, forming much more on starch-ammonium salt agar. This strain appears to be very similar to that of S. reticuli in that it forms a brown soluble pigment in organic media. The ability to hydrolyze starch, coagulate and liquefy milk, liquefy gelatin and reduce nitrate are similar to S. reticuli . However, the yellow culture and yellow soluble pigment produced by №.290 are different from S. reticuli. On the other hand, its various characteristics are also similar to those of S.flavus. Since these properties have not been documented in the literature, Streptomyces №290 is named Streptomyces flavoreticuli.
