Gastric mucosal blood perfusion is increased or decreased when portal hypertensive gastropathy is still controversial. In this study, mucosal oxygenation was measured using a new oxygen probe designed to determine the feasibility of using the probe under endoscopy and to examine possible changes in mucosal oxygen somewhere in the clinical setting. Methods The oxygen volume (rather than pressure) of the epithelium diffused into the instrument was continuously measured by a modified polarographic oxygen electrode. Animal experiments show that the probe can detect changes in total blood flow caused by rapid changes in serosal and mucosal oxygenation. Steps: Endoscopy, the probe through the biopsy pipe under direct contact with the mucosal surface, to avoid pressure. Each continuous test 45 seconds enough to get one
