As a kind of “tell a story” cultural product, the song narration demands time is particularly “harsh”. This article first explores the temporal patterns in the narrative of early Chinese pop songs from three aspects: time sequence, duration and time-frequency: the sequence of narration is mostly sequential and the method of flashback is used to enhance the appeal of the story. Syria, omitting tactics to deal with time flexibly; Its description of time and frequency more than one use to repeat a summary to enhance the appeal of the story, shorten the audience to understand time. The strategy of using time in China’s early metropolitan popular song narratives is roughly divided into the following three categories: First, making good use of the subject, people and environment to reduce time spent on understanding; second, making use of the ways of dreams, memories and imaginations to expand narrative time; It is to make good use of the association mechanism to extend the imagination time.
