Diabetic patients with cataract extraction, the improvement of visual acuity is beneficial, such as excluding the presence of diabetic retinopathy, its visual acuity and non-diabetic patients close. More than 90% of diabetic patients without retinopathy, thus visual acuity after cataract extraction can be increased to 20/40 or more. However, many patients with diabetic retinopathy after cataract surgery, visual acuity worse than preoperative. Some studies have talked about the reasons for poor prognosis of these patients, but never described the formation of severe exudative retinal disease after cataract extraction. The authors analyzed eight patients with non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy who developed severe exudative diabetic retinopathy after cataract extraction.
