吉祥的观念应该起源于原始社会时期,“吉祥”是对未来的希望和祝福,具有理想的色彩,代表着人们改变生活环境的艰苦努力和征服困难的伟大意志以及不屈的力量。吉祥图案是中国传统装饰艺术中极具魅力的一部分,把其精神内涵和文化实质注入现代设计的各个领域中,不仅能体现现代设计的民族性和文化性,而且更能使现代设计兼具审美价值和商业价值。而现代设计中的包装设计是一门以文化为本位、以生活为基础、以现代为导向的设计学科,它的艺术可以借助自己独特的艺术语言,从多层次、多角度传递民族文化,揭示民族文化的内涵。吉祥图案应用在在现代包装设计中从而更好的把握住民族文化精神的实质,并从中提取精华,提升现代包装设计的价值。
