本文从孟子性善论之“心”的质性与“性”的内涵、存养扩充、性善论的意义及内圣思想的形上思维,去了解个人成德成圣之可能依据。从内圣成德的理想典范去了解成德之工夫进程,在心性论、工夫论的探讨中,进入孟子的内圣思想的领域,重在实践成德之教;从王道思想之政治、政权的转移、治权的行使,深入孟子的外王思想,重在突显外在事功。然而,“内圣”与“外王”并非判然二分,而是可以相互贯通;依此理路,最后探究陈述孟子内圣外王的基本性格及基本结构及孟子内圣外王的原理。
