In the inscription of National Day of 1983 and Comrade Deng Xiaoping for Jingshan School, “Education should be oriented toward modernization, facing the world and the future.” This is the fundamental strategic guiding ideology of education in the new era of our country. It is also a guide to reforming our teaching in all subjects. How to carry out the “three orientations” in history and speed up the pace of education reform is a question that many historical teaching workers are considering and exploring. On May 12 this year, the editorial department of this magazine, with the assistance of the Teaching and Research Office of Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Education, invited some historical teaching and research workers of this Municipality to discuss this issue. The speeches of some gays will now be published in the next summary. We hope that our history teachers will strive to explore and actively reform the teaching of history in accordance with the requirements of the “three orientations” of education and send our practical experience and understanding to our publication.
