欧洲的新半导体协作研究开发项目MEDEA(Micro Electronics Development for Euro-pean Application)将在1997年1月1日开始运作。
MEDEA (Micro Electronics Development for Euro-pean Application), a new semiconductor collaborative research and development project in Europe, will start operation on January 1, 1997. The project will cost a total of 2.4 billion U.S. dollars for the four-year period from January 1997 to December 2000, with 50% of the participating companies, 25% with the host government and 25% with the European Commission. MEDEA President Horot Nasko said MEDEA’s work will focus on six key areas of design technology and libraries for semiconductor technology, silicon processes, manufacturing technology, and new technology development and its applications in the multimedia, communications and automotive industries. The MEDEA project will replace the current semiconductor research program, JESSI, which is a 7-year project financed through EUREKA and will expire in December of this year. The government approval of MEDEA by 24 governments has opened the door for companies
