To investigate the antioxidant system and its role in the pathogenesis of PD in patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD), the levels of plasma vitamin C (P-VC), vitamin E (P-VE), plasma and erythrocyte superoxidation The levels of P-SOD and E-SOD, plasma and erythrocyte lipid peroxidation (P-LPO, E-LPO) were measured and compared with the normal control group. The results showed that the levels of P-VC, P-VE and the activities of P-SOD and E-SOD in PD group were significantly lower than those in normal control group, but P-LPO and E-LPO were significantly increased , E-SOD was negatively correlated with the disease and course of disease, suggesting that antioxidant system defects and accumulation of endogenous oxygen free radicals are closely related to the pathogenesis of PD.
