电火花线切割机由于受到诸多因素的影响,一般难以达到高精度。目前其加工精度为0.005~0.01mm,极个别可达0.003mm;我国的还要低,一般为0.01~0.02mm。 最近,日本三菱电机公司开发了PX05型超高精度电火花线切割加工机。这是三菱电机公司继“DIAX”系列的DWC110PA型和DWC90PA型高精度线切割机之后的最高级机床,于1997年5月正式投放市场。 由于半导体工业的发展,迫切要求降低半导体存储器的精密模具的制造总成本。PX05型高精度线切割加工机就是迎合这种需要而研究开发的。该机由于采用了新结构和新技术,可实现高精度线切割加工。同时由于机床无需放置在专门的恒温室中,可减少为控制温度所花费的费用,使成本降低。
