在信息时代,或许是内容为王。但如何加以利用才是硬道理。这似乎是汤姆森公司周二宣布斥资约172亿美元收购路透集团这家全球性新闻和财经数据服务商的举动中所隐含的寓意。合并后的新公司将更名为汤姆森-路透,拥有34%的财经数据市场占有率,这使得汤姆森与彭博社正面交锋,尤其是在向华尔街出售数据服务、分析和交易工具等方面更是如此。
In the information age, content may be king. But how to use it is the absolute truth. This seems to be the implied meaning of Thomson’s announcement on Tuesday that it spent about $17.2 billion to acquire Reuters, the global news and financial data service provider. The merged new company will be renamed Thomson Reuters, with a 34% share of the financial data market, which makes Thomson face up with Bloomberg, especially when selling data services, analysis and trading tools to Wall Street. .
