麦克斯韦是英国的理论物理学家、数学家。1831 年11月13日他生于英国爱丁堡。他的父亲知识广博,常带领麦克斯韦去听科学讲座,麦克斯韦从小就出入学会,受到科学的熏陶。10岁时,麦克斯韦进入爱丁堡中学,数学、诗歌的成绩出众。他在15岁那年,就向皇家学会递交数学论文,发表在《爱丁堡皇家学会学报》上。1847年中学毕业,他考入苏格兰爱丁堡大学学习数学、物理,1850年秋,转入剑桥大学,专攻数学。1854年毕业,成绩优秀留校
Maxwell is a British theoretical physicist and mathematician. He was born in Edinburgh, United Kingdom on November 13, 1831.
