The text of “Amid Modigliani” was written in 1958-1964. Modigliani (1884-1920) is one of the most famous painters in modern Italy. At the age of twenty-two, he came to Paris from his native town, studying painting. He spent a brief lifetime in a poor life, and his paintings gradually gained a high opinion after his death. Akhmatova This memoir is mainly about the pieces they met in Paris before they became famous, and some pictures of the early thought and life of a future master of art are sketched out. This memoir is written in a very interesting, concise and extensive manner, with a wide range of content. The author is good at putting the problem out, but he does not say it thoroughly, leaving the reader more room for chewing and aftertaste. This article is translated from Anna Akhmatova’s book, Poetry and Prose, published by Leningrad Publishers in 1976.
