邻界效应(edge effect)相邻的两处密度相差太大时,由于在密度大的区域显影液消耗得比较多,产生了许多溴离子,这些溴离子扩散到与它邻接的小密度区域,使小密度区域边沿的显影受到抑制,因此得到的密度较小。另外,在小密度区域,由于药量清耗得少,而且此大密度区域的药液新鲜,扩散到大密度区域的边沿后,显出的密度更黑。因此,在黑白交界的地方,形成了一条密度较深和一条密度较淡的边缘,这就是所谓的邻界效应。邻界效应,会使画面反差增高,细部损失。特别在画面多次复制时,邻界效应尤为明显。加强显影液的循环搅拌可清除邻界效应。
