[Objective] To understand the status of HIV infection among intravenous drug users and provide basis for prevention and control of the effect of intervention. [Methods] The subjects were enrolled in the snowball method. Serological tests of HIV and syphilis were performed on 400 blood samples collected in 2007 and 2008 by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). [Results] The detection rates of HIV in 2-year intravenous drug users were 20.5% and 28.5%, respectively. The detection rates of male and female were similar in 2 years. In 2008, the detection rate of female syphilis was 12.0% higher than that of male (2.7%). [Conclusion] The HIV infection rate of intravenous drug addicts still maintains a high level. Intervention efforts should continue to be stepped up to increase the coverage and slow down the transmission of HIV. At the same time, attention should be paid to the high risk behaviors of female drug users.
