The optimal conditions for the determination of mercury by the ternary complex system of mercury-thiocyanate-rhodamine B were studied. The maximum absorption wavelength of this system was 610 nm and the molar absorption coefficient was 1.66 × 10 ~ 5. Mercury Beer’s law is obeyed in the range of 0 ~ 50μg / 50ml.
