一些学者研究证实,光照周期可加速或延迟一些鱼类性腺的成熟.例如,长光照可加速草鲤的性腺成熟,而在美洲红点鲑缩短光照则可诱发提早性腺成熟.另一些学者报道,某些硬骨鱼类排卵和产卵也是受光照周期的影响.文昌鱼属季节性产卵的类型,作者曾报道文昌鱼生殖细胞发生和早期性腺生长受光照周期的影响.至于文昌鱼是否像上述某些硬骨鱼类那样,性腺成熟和产卵或释精也受光照周期的影响,迄今仍不清楚,在国内外文献上也未见报道,而对此问题的研究,除了解光照因子在文昌鱼性腺成熟和产卵过程中的重要作用外,同时也可对文昌鱼生殖行为学和人为控制它的产卵提供基础资料,因而具有其理论意义和应用价值.
