“there be…”句型是中学课本中常见的句型。它表示某地方、某时间“存在”、“有”某物某人之义。这种句子结构为英语中常见的固定倒装结构。be为谓语动词,要随后面主语的人称、数以及句子时态的变化而变化。在“there be…”结构中的谓语动词,为了表达含义的需要有时不用be,而用其它类似的其概念的动词。这就是“there be…”句型的扩大。有以下几种情况。 一、“there be…”结构中的谓语动词用表示类似“存在”观念的其他动词,如:live、stand、lie、sit、exist、come、go、grow、fly等。它们能够使得句子含义更具体、生动形象化。如:
