上海市桃浦工业区是上海西北城区边缘的精细化工工业区,面积3平方公里,区内有化工、医药、涂料、染料、香精香料、橡塑、轻纺等行业的中小型企业50余家,一些著名的企业如申隆制药厂、先灵葆雅制药集团公司、中药制药一厂、上海染化八厂、上海化纤一厂、上海香料总厂、上海橡胶总厂、桃浦化工厂、振华造漆厂、上海油墨厂、英雄金笔厂、北方商城等均在工业区内,这些工厂的生产必须依赖蒸汽的供给。上海市政府对桃浦工业区的治理和开发给予了极大的重视和关心,在对其综合治理的同时,要求按总体规划,拆除分散在工业区
